After going over the articles, I found that after google ones self. It is highlighted, the importance of controlling your story. What I mean by that, after google yourself. Is that your complete story or is that just minor tidbit and a glimpse captured in a brief moment in times. But after going thru the articles and comparing it to my google results. I find a important question to compare to two. Is it your story? or is it a story about you?. Much like the Jefferson reference in the 1600 article. Much of the story that went on, rarely makes it to print. An is often part of the oral tradition instead. Like the majority of the “Founding Fathers” were not opposed to owning African and their descendants and subjugating them. Even tho they just fought a revolution about freedom and not wanted to be subjected to another’s rule. But is that a true and complete account of yourself and your accomplishments over the course of ones entire life? Or is this put into context from a third party source, based their skewing and summarization of “facts?”. What is most important to me, in this assignment, especially since I’m a law major. Was the reference to the Dred Scott Decision and its magnitude on us as a society. Allow me to bring this home. In the Dred Scott decision, a story was fabricated about African Americans and generalizing the entirety of their social status based on this fabrication. The fabrication that African Americans were a lessor group based on one factor RACE as opposed to nationality pre-eurocentric transnational model. But most important is, was this their story tho? or was this a story written about them through the eyes of another’s purview? Controlling the narrative and especially in the context of you, could be a matter if you peak at the social hierarchy arch, not only in status and success but wealth. But can go on the mature into its own manifestation to become a legacy. Point in case the civil rights movement, where people can either be a Switzerland and attempt to be neutral. But being complacent, is just as responsible as often seen. Absence of a objection is all a movement really needs to grain traction. Another example would be the Tuskegee Study and other eugenics initiatives. That we now come to know as pseudoscience. An unfortunately Virginia has a track history, like view in Love V. Virginia 1967. Which put Virginia in the headlines for interracial marriage.
